“The beard is a reflection of both wisdom and royalty.” – The Roots’ Black Thought
No Shave November is upon us! If you’ve been on the fence about becoming a beardsman, now’s the time. This month, we invite you to grow your beard out to raise awareness about men’s health. According to the No Shave November organization, the concept is to grow your beard out wild and free (as if you needed an excuse) while donating the money you’d typically spend on shaving to cancer prevention and education. In other words? Do good while looking badass.
To get you started with No Shave November, this week’s Best of the Web includes the science behind why some guys grow beards more easily than others, 5 tips for going from barefaced to lumberjack as fast as possible, and 5 things you didn’t know about No Shave November.
From there, we take a look at a beard’s place in everywhere from sports (remember Brian Wilson, AKA The Beard?) to music (Black Thought, the hirsute leader of The Roots, Jimmy Fallon’s house band on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon).
And finally, we catch up with a bearded brother close to home in our beard profile of Zach Chilson, a Long Beach, California-based woodworker carrying on the family trade.
Here’s to a month of #GrowWithZeus.
