This week has got several prominent beards up on the cutting block. First up is Dodgers’ third baseman, Justin Turner, whose fiery red beard ensures he scarcely goes a day without a request for a picture or a beard tug. According to Sports Illustrated, Turner may shave his beard if the Dodgers win the World Series. While we’re typically not on board with the removal of such a glorious beard, the Dodgers haven’t made a World Series appearance for nearly 30 years, so such a sacrifice might be worth it?
And then there’s Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer, whose wife is only half-jokingly threatening to shave off his ‘grandpa’ beard in his sleep. Finally, Jared Leto, who has been sporting a beard for a few months, has pledged on Instagram to shave it off if his single, “Walk On Water,” hits #1 on the iTunes chart.
On the flip side of the coin, we welcome a new beard to the club: that of Donald Glover, who was recently snapped with a full beard for his Lando Calrissian role on the upcoming Han Solo movie.
