Located in the ultra bohemian district of La Brea in Los Angeles, General Quarters is a throwback Americana menswear shop. Opened by Blair Lucio in 2010, the store offers one-of-a-kind pieces.

Southern California-inspired designs like soft tees and relaxed denim sit next to vintage bandanas, pocket knives, and even motorcycles. The shop also curates recreation wear from the ‘50s and ‘60s, ranging from button-downs to raw denim.

There’s an effortless, timeless quality to each piece, whether it was produced during WWII or just recently in a workshop by artisans. It’s this vintage-meets-contemporary flair that makes General Quarters a cool place to get schooled about fashion while picking up a few offbeat threads.

You’ll find top heritage brands like Filson and Red Wing, as well as independent labels like Tanner Goods. General Quarters is also a gem for denim hunters, carrying local Los Angeles brands Tellason and Rogue Territory, both of which produce handcrafted denim with subtle design details (and the perfect fit).

On the hunt for a cool present or accessory to add to your living room? General Quarters carries a small selection of coffee table books and candles.

Finish upping your style game by getting a haircut at Gloss-O, the traditional barbershop in the back.

Tip: If you're spending a couple hours in the neighborhood, be sure to swing by Sycamore Kitchen for a steak sandwich, and Andante Coffee Roaster for their phenomenally smooth cold brew (the free WiFi doesn't hurt).
