We met Walter Williams aka "Salt Walty" a few months ago and liked the look of his style, lifestyle and adventures. We emailed back and forth and learnt a lot about this man. He is an adventure seeker, full time student and photographer, oh and did we mention an ex Marine! Thank you Walter for all that you have done. We are intrigued by what this man has accomplished while rocking this great beard. Talking about his beard, read on to see where he got his inspiration from to grow this great thing on his face!

When did you realize that this is what you wanted to pursue?
Photography became apart of my life when I was in the military; I wanted to document my life through photography. Once I started I was hooked and it eventually led me to photographing a wide variety of people and events.
Describe a few steps you took to make this happen.
When I got out of the military my desire for adventure was at an all time high. I made the decision to invest in some time traveling the world and to photograph my experience. I continued this drive once I got back to the U.S. and broadened my style of photography to musical events and portraits.
What are some of your accomplishments as a beard grower?
Being able to grow a yeard and then some (15 1/2 months) before going under the scissors. Meeting other bearded gentlemen and beard grooming companies that have welcomed me into the bearded world.
What do you believe makes a quality beard?
Patience, beard oil, exercise, a healthy diet, and craft beer. Also an amazing girlfriend who supports you to grow one.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
As a former United States Marine deployed in Afghanistan, I came across a U.S. military contractor who had a big burly beard. Once I witnessed that massive manliness on his face, I knew that with some dedication I would be able to create one that others would look at with such awe as I did.
What advice do you have for aspiring beard growers?

Did you ever think you would be where you are today?
No, I actually told myself that after a certain amount of time with the beard I would shave it off. After meeting a few of the amazing people involved in the bearded community it became evident that I couldn't leave so early.
