Husband-and-wife duo Kevin and Bo Carney founded Mohawk General Store in 2008 originally because Kevin wanted a place to sell his shoes (he owns The Generic Man shoe company). It soon grew to encompass the whole umbrella of hipster-leaning lifestyle goods: clothing, jewelry, apothecary, print, decorative objects. Mohawk General Store and Mohawk Man are laid out like a (stylish) friend’s living room, with Mid-Century modern furniture imported from the Netherlands.
After Mohawk General Store found a cult following, the Carneys opened Mohawk Man and another Mohawk General Store location in Old Town Pasadena.

As for product provenance, the Carneys curate items from their artisan friends as well as harder-to-find designers like APC, Issey Miyake Man, and Norse Projects.
If you’re down in the Sunset Junction area of Silver Lake, we definitely recommend a visit to Mohawk General Store and Mohawk Man.
Tip: Since parking is hard to come by in this area, once you snag a spot we recommend making a full day out of your visit by heading to Forage for lunch and walking around the area’s other boutiques and vintage stores.
